What is 'Sports Premium'?
For each year of the ‘Primary Physical Education and Sport Premium’ funding up to 2026, Elm Grove has received an amount of £16,000 plus an additional £10 per pupil (Y1-6) from the government. It had to be ring-fenced to fund improvements in the provision of PE and school sport. It was expected that schools would see an improvement against the following five key indicators:
- The engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity – kick-starting healthy, active lifestyles.
- The profile of PE and sport being raised across the school as a tool for whole school improvement.
- Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport.
- Broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils.
- Increased participation in competitive sport.
It has been our aim to continue to enhance the teaching and learning in PE at Elm Grove and to make the best use of our resources. By improving our provision we have raised participation rates and achievement for all pupils. We have been keen to build on our good practice and use the funding in ways that can be sustained.
